The Link Between Sugar, Maternity and Allergies
In early research conducted by The University of Queen Mary, London. The public is warned that high levels of sugar can double the chances of the child developing asthma.
Research has shown a link between high levels of glucose during pregnancy and increased chances of the child developing allergenic asthma.
High-levels of sugar consumption increases the chances of developing allergic asthma. Children are increasingly suffering from allergies and asthma and it seems to be a another western lifestyle trait that is a significant factor. One possible cause is diet, the sugar we find in confectionery, biscuits and 'junk food' may be doing us harm even before birth - Food for thought.
There are indicators that a link between increased asthma in children who drunk soft-drinks and this spurred the research. However, research into diet and allergies during pregnancy was and still is untouched.
Free sugars (glucose) are not healthy like the ones you find in fruits (fructose) - included in sweetened fruit juices!
Although a casual effect is possible, the early findings are enough to consider reducing free sugar if pregnant.
